THE BLOG
And now I know. I know how to put my creativity to use. My blogs started out as fun, albeit therapeutic fun but fun just the same. Finding topics has been somewhat challenging. I typically wait for something pertinent or I write about my kids. But now I've taken on an endeavor....a project. And I'm so excited about it. The task of saving money is not an easy one for me. And it became a nearly impossible one. My aunt mentioned kickstarter.com and after looking into it, I knew that was an avenue that had potential. GoFundMe wasn't going to be an option. No way would I just ask everyone else to pay for my trip. But kickstarter gave me a means to make it something tangible that people could be rewarded with for helping/supporting me.
I know that I want to make my blogs about the trip something enjoyable. I will write as I go and edit when I get home. And I know the trip will be an outstanding adventure!! And adventures are always fun, not to mention funny. If I had mad editing skills, I'd put the pictures to music, but since I promised books, guess I'll stick to words. But words, quips, anecdotes, and kareyisms are what make me, me. And that is the premise of the project. Not just some boring travel blog or travel log. You can get facts and scenery anywhere. What I hope to provide is the true view from my eyes. And the warped take on it from my brain.
Have I mentioned that much of my ancestry is German? Just another reason to have this trip on my bucket list. The relief that the trip might become a reality is akin to butterflies before a performance.
There have been other benefits to the kickstarter project too. In posting the link to my Twitter, I've gotten some rather odd new followers. (And by 'odd' I mean 'cool') Some other bloggers and the like.
I will wrap this up by saying that I hope if you are a follower of my blog, you take the time to go read about the project. It is more than just a request for money. Every dollar is a show of support and so very appreciated. And if you are a fan of my writing, you can donate to receive a book after the trip.
